HHTC Golf Day 2018 - Brocket Hall

On Thursday 14th of June 2018 HHTC held its annual golf day and this year's venue was at Brocket Hall's Melbourne course organised by Alistair Hunter.

Playing off the White Competition Tees, tough pin positions and strong gusts of wind meant the course was setup for a tough yet true challenge.

In the Team event players were assigned to their captains over bacon butties in the lounge bar with Team Law and Dawes evenly matched on handicaps before kickoff.

The individual event was scored on handicap Stableford points along with prizes for longest drive on the 18th and closest the pin on the par 3 9th hole.

Last years event saw Jon Dawes pick up both the individual best score and also a Team Dawes victory which he was keen to try and defend purchasing a new set of clubs especially for the days action!

Nearest the Pin: 9th Hole

Alistair Hunter was one of the few who managed to find the green to win nearest the pin on the par 3, 9th hole navigating the wind and holding the ball on the fast and firm green.

Longest Drive:18th Hole

The longest drive was won by James Law who managed to find the fairway along way down the 18th and snatch the yardage stick off our Chairman Steve Brewerton.

Individual event:

John Savage carded a very impressive 34 points, going out in 18 and back in 16 to clinch the top spot on the day consistently finding the fairway off the tee with arrow straight drives into the wind, solid fairway irons and consistent putting on the quick greens. This was no mean feet with many of the competitors losing more than just one ball...

2nd place was won by Alistair Hunter who's course management saw off the rest of the field along whith shooting the lowest gross score of the day and Stableford score of 31 points.

Team event:

Jon Dawes's pre tee-off pep talk clearly did the trick motivating his troops to an emphatic victory over Team Law who had no answer for Team Dawes's top 2 finish along with solid scoring from the rest of his line up. Hopefully next years event Team Law can put up more of a fight to stop the recent years of Team Dawes dominance!

A big thankyou to Alistair Hunter for organising the event and venue and we hope to see you all next year to do battle once again in 2019!
